Money Defects

Matthew 6:24 (CSB) “No one can serve two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

There are a multifold of ways to earn money. Innovative minds are creating opportunities to replace deficiencies – and they are making the money! The wealth that comes – when managed wisely – produces blessings that align with the will of God. However, when the wealth that comes turns into the wealth that we serve – look out! The money may make life sweet as honey, but its function bypasses the authority of God. That is a major flaw, and there are two more flaws that come with it. While money can buy us practically anything we want to own – it can’t purchase for us the joy we can only receive in the Lord. Also, money may afford us to go just about anywhere in the world, but it cannot promise, provide, or pay our way into Heaven! Yes—money has some serious defects. It’s alright to earn it, but we don’t ever want to turn away from God to serve it. Instead of serving money, we’ll keep on serving God.
