A Wiser Wealth

Proverbs 23:4-5 (NLT) Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit.

The selfish man put the woman whom God had chosen for him to marry on hold. He was determined to become extremely wealthy before he took a bride. Ten years passed, and he went to a restaurant to have a solitary meal. The waiter seated him at a table directly across from a man and his precious children. He smiled as he watched the youngsters giggle and talk with their daddy. And then his heart sank with regret. The wife and mother of the family came and took her seat by her husband. She was beautiful and happy. She was the woman he had put on hold... People make the mistake of thinking they can get ahead in life by gaining earthly wealth first, and then give their attention to the other things – the God things – that are the truer treasures in life. But the truth of the matter is this: God already has the best plans worked out to completion for our lives. Our greatest wealth is found in our relationship with Jesus. Everything good comes from God and His timing is impeccable! A man or woman with a smile in their heart and love in their life beholds greater wealth than a man or woman who can only account for the accumulation of things and no one to share life with.
