Self-Blocker

Isaiah 40:22 (NLT) God sits above the circle of the earth. The people below seem like grasshoppers to him! He spreads out the heavens like a curtain and makes his tent from them.

I knew I had fully grasped the complete understanding of how vividly God is everywhere with me when I closed the door behind me as I went into a restroom. I strongly felt the Presence of God right there with me – even then! Privacy in those moments is important to us, right? But what do we do, where do we go, and what do we have that is private from God? Nothing. Can a door block God out? No. Can membership, prestige, looks, grades, race, genetics – you name it – can any of that block God out of the areas of our life? The answer remains ‘no’. Well then, how do we explain the times when it feels like God isn’t with us when we call on Him? It ‘feels’ that way because we block ourselves from God. He always with us, but our consumption with ourselves blocks us from an awareness of His Presence. When we honor God with the first place position in our life, He – the God Who sits above the circle of the earth – is certain to be present for His grasshoppers at all times. Selah.
