Pray, Fast, and Give

James 4:8 (NLT) Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world...

Lent season begins today. It is the six weeks leading up to Easter Sunday. Praying, fasting, and giving to the needy are three key focuses that are undertaken while observing lent. Some of us are diligent in our lent activities, while some of us must modify due to our physical needs. Still yet, others don’t give much thought to the activities of Lent because of the inconveniences they create. It is my hope that more of us seasoned and new believers in Christ will go before God in prayer and petition Him to show us what areas of our relationship in Him needs our undivided attention. May He tell us what He wants us to abstain from so that we may draw closer to Him in our relationship and purify ourselves from anything in our life that divides us from Him. May we dedicate ourselves to earnestly pray, to fast, and to give to those who are in need of our help. May there be an increase in our clarity of mind for understanding what this time leading up to Easter Sunday means for us, and may our souls abound in gratitude for what Jesus endured because of us even before He hung and died on Calvary’s cross.
