A Child’s Sweet Voice
Matthew 21:15-16 (CSB) When the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonders that he [Jesus] did and the children shouting in the temple, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant and said to him, ‘Do you hear what these children are saying?” Jesus replied, “Yes, have you not read: You have prepared praise from the mouths of infants and nursing babies?”
At your next gathering with the body of Christ, pay attention to the moments you may hear babies babbling or crying, or perhaps toddlers and young children talking and playing. God instinctively listens to the sounds of their sweet voices. God hears them above the musicians playing their instruments. He hears them above the singing of the choir and the congregation. God even hears the sweet voices of His little ones above the preacher as he is delivering the sermon message. And God is not bothered by the sounds the children make – even if the rest of the of His church body is silent. Jesus said in Luke 18:16 to ‘let the little children come to me, and don’t stop them, because the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.’ So, don’t misunderstand or try to control a child’s babbling, crying, or talking. God takes delight in hearing His praise in a child’s sweet voice.
