Get Back In the Race

1 Corinthians 9:26-27 (MSG) I don’t know about you, but I’m running hard for the finish line. I’m giving it everything I’ve got. No lazy living for me! I’m staying alert and in top condition. I’m not going to get caught napping, telling everyone else all about it and then missing out myself.

Are you a sideline analyst, or are you on the track and in the race to be a good and faithful servant of the Lord? Some of us saintly servants thought we were doing a good thing when we pulled off to the side of the racetrack and began offering our critique to other racers who strive daily to be more like Jesus. The problem with that is we were judging the racers based on where our efforts stopped. But God is merciful in reminding us that the race we run has an eternal finish, and we have much further still to go. We’re not running our best race to stay here in the earth. We’re running towards our home in Heaven! Are you guilty of being a sideline analyst – satisfied with doing just enough to get by in your relationship with Jesus? Reconsider your position, and get back in the race! Those of us who are staying on the track are still running toward Jesus. We won’t see you if you stay left behind.
