Life’s Greatest Treasure Is...

1 Timothy 6:17-19 (MSG) Tell those rich in this world’s wealth to quit being so full of themselves and so obsessed with money, which is here today and gone tomorrow. Tell them to go after God, who piles on all the riches we could ever manage—to do good, to be rich in helping others, to be extravagantly generous. If they do that, they’ll build a treasury that will last, gaining life that is truly life.

...God. He is life’s greatest treasure. God is the Creator of life, and He is the Completeness of life. God is Eternal Life. He is all of this to us in the Name of Love. God is our Source for all of the resources that are necessary to live life. More importantly – God is an Eternal Source, because earthly resources have limited value, limited abilities, and limited existence. We abuse God just like we abuse the things that money can buy. We abuse Him by seeking and hoarding things in life while treating our Sovereign God like a ‘genie’. But I tell you what, take God completely out of the Creation story. What do we have left? You’re so right – we have nothing left, because nothing ever existed in the first place – that is, not without God. But when we put God in His rightful place in our lives, and we take away everything else we possess except our faith in God - what do we have left? Yes, we have more than we can ever want or begin to imagine. We have something that the world can’t give us, and the world can’t take away, because we have life’s Greatest Treasure. We have God.
