Relational Cord

Ecclesiastes 4:12 (MSG) By yourself you’re unprotected. With a friend you can face the worst. Can you round up a third? A three-stranded rope isn’t easily snapped.

Do you have a village, or do you have a private island? Everyone needs the reassuring presence of other people in their lives. The necessity of relationships provides us with someone whom we can turn to when emergencies arise, when we’re in a place of uncertainty and need the company of faithful and understanding friends, when we want to share good times – you name it. The three-strand cord of a believer – Jesus, self, and a friend - is a game-changer when going through difficult storms and times of celebration! Jesus bore the cross alone so that we wouldn’t have to do life independent of one another. A relational cord saves the private islander from a whole lot of trouble and loneliness by pulling him/her into a village surrounded by people of Christ who have each other’s best interest at heart.
