What Really Matters

Acts 27:18 (NIV) We took such a violent battering from the storm that the next day they began to throw the cargo overboard.

It is in the storms of life when what really matters is brought to the forefront of our conscience. Yes, a bad storm can be a good tool for reminding us of how petty and foolish we become when we shift our attention and our obedience away from God. We may get too full of ourselves; we might insist on holding on to things that we need to let go of; we may be ungrateful for the people and the essential necessities we have in our lives... Whatever really matters to God that we begin to disregard or take for granted may require a storm to put us in check with Him. If we’re truthful, we can admit that there’s nothing like a good shakeup to make us wake up and get rid of our wrong thinking and wrong behavior. Are you in a storm right now? The Lord is your rescuer. Seek Him, and understand what really matters for your life.
