Triggers

Matthew 5:21 (CSB) “You have heard that it was said to our ancestors, Do not murder, and who ever murders will be subject to judgement.”

‘Who will be next?’ is the unfortunate question we have on our minds regarding the shootings that are taking the lives of innocent and unsuspecting people. No amount of laws or increased security measures alone can protect us from the triggers of another human’s mental state or the triggers in their heart. Medicine isn’t the answer, either. What alternatives do we have that we need to engage more effectively? We have what we need. We have God, and we have each other. Our God is Greater than all the triggers, and we’ve got to be more aware, sensitive, patient, sincere, concerned, kind...we’ve got to live by the Fruit of the Spirit towards all people – ALL PEOPLE – from infancy to old age – and stop treating each other as though we’re not connected to one another. When one hurts, we all hurt. When one suffers, we all suffer. We pray in faith, but faith without works is – dead. It’s Godly amazing what can happen when we slow down, pay attention, and take the time to care. There is much that we can do to terminate the root cause of triggers. It takes us to ‘be for us’ to get it done.
