Investing In Others
Luke 6:38 (AMP) Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over [with no space left for more]. For with the standard of measurement you use [when you do good to others], it will be measured to you in return.
We can never really know what the deeper aspect of people’s needs are, but we can certainly be investors in helping to meet those needs. Needs can’t be addressed by appearance alone. It’s obvious to us when people have material needs (clothing, food, money, a place to live, etc.). But what about the mental, emotional, and spiritual needs that require the investment of – us – our time and presence, side-by-side companionship, our prayers, our breaking bread together, our holding it together for someone who needs a rest from trying to do life on their own? Are we too busy or too preoccupied to give so generously for the sake of helping to lift each other up? No amount of giving on our part is lost. It is all Kingdom investments that have a superlative return for us. May the Christmas season admonish to us that it is our daily duty to give to others throughout the year wherever God invites us to join Him in His work.
