See In the Spirit

Luke 2:9 (AMP) And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord flashed and shone around them, and they were terribly frightened.

There was heavy spiritual warfare going on in the atmosphere during the time of Jesus’ birth – particularly in the vicinity of where He was born. The angel that appeared before the shepherds didn’t make a special trip to get to them. The angel was already there protecting the shepherds in their unawareness of the spiritual battles that were occurring all around them. Their fright from the angel’s presence and the brightness of the Lord’s glory was because of the unexpectedness and the overwhelming reality of it all. It was a reverent fear. Imagine if we could see the mutiny that is taking place up close and around us in the spiritual realm. I’m certain it would cause us to be terrified in the weakness of our flesh. We already fall weak to the warfare of the physical world. But let us look to the Word of God and believe in this truth: All warfare is spiritual, and we are never alone. The battles beyond our capabilities are fought and won by the angels God assigns to protect and defend us. As for the battles we face directly, we can have victory in the One Who lives in us. See your life in the spirit, and revere your Most High God.
