Thankful for the Now

Proverbs 27:1 (AMP) Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.

God is gracious to conceal from us what is in store for our lives from day to day. We ought to be grateful. Knowing too much about what’s ahead would cause us to get in the way of our own lives, and we already do a doozy of a job at that! We know how we are. If we know something good is on the way, we have a tendency to willy-nilly away the time between now and then. And if we know something bad is possibly going to happen, we get distraught and wear out our nerves and the nerves of everyone else around us trying to abort the incident before it occurs. Fortunately, God gives us one day at a time to live and to be thankful in the now and for the now. And it behooves us to embrace the present day and respect tomorrow’s appointed time without bragging on it with our ambitions before it gets here. Each new day comes with its own possibilities. Whatever is in store for our future, it’s all in God’s Hands.
