Loving Difficult People
Ephesians 4:2 (NLT) Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.
It’s not easy to love difficult people, but they can be loved, and they need to be loved – whether it’s up close and personal or at a distance. It’s hard to believe that we were ever difficult to love before we came into a relationship with Jesus - but we were, and some of us still are difficult to love - even as we know our Savior. A mistake we often make is that we perceive all difficult people to be our enemies. Some certainly are - but for the majority – they’re just everyday people who respond to life and people from a place of hurt and pain from their past or from what they are presently enduring. We’ve all been down that road many times. The best thing we can do to help ourselves love difficult people is to remember the people who loved us when we acted unlovable, and be patient, prayerful, and gentle with each other. We do not have the authority to write anyone off, but we do have the opportunity to love on anyone who belongs to our Creator while He works through us to help heal hurting souls. Amen.
