The Main Event!
Acts 2:38-39 (NLT) ... “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise is to you, to your children, and to those far away – all who have been called by the Lord God.
It didn’t matter that parents had to arrange to leave their jobs a little early to pick their children up from school and get them to the church on a weekday afternoon. Some after-school practices had to be missed or cut short, but it didn’t matter – at least not on this particular day. The children’s eagerness alone expressed how much what they were about to do meant to them and their parents. They were dressed in their white attire, and they had their family members in place to witness this momentous occasion that will impact the rest of their entire lives. With Pastor Daniel Simmons standing before them to pray – twelve bright-eyed and confident children said, “YES,” to confessing their faith in Jesus Christ! They were baptized in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit! Of all that is instore for their lives – this was their main event! Halleluiah!!!
