Reassurance

1 Timothy 1:18-19 (NLT) Timothy, my son, here are my instructions for you, based on the prophetic words spoken about you earlier. May they help you fight well in the Lord’s battles. Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked.

Faithful people need reassurance. Yes – people of faith occasionally need to be reassured in their faith. So, does this negate our faith? No, it doesn’t. Reassurance actually strengthens our spiritual armor when life’s battles are attacking us from every side, and there appears to be no end in sight. Tough circumstances have a deceptive way of causing us to battle within ourselves at the cost of our connection to the Lord. This is why it is alright for the faithful to need the reassurance of God’s Word. His Word is our heads up before, during, and after we’ve gone deep in battle. God’s Word is the reason we hang in there when we might otherwise think that we can’t make it through. God’s Word reassures us that we can do all things by our faith and good conscience in Him. God requires that we meditate on His Word daily and store it in our hearts. You know why? So when we need some reassurance, we’ll be able to call on it from within us. Selah.
