No Religious Jargon Required

Matthew 6:7-8 (NLT) “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.”

Eliminate the fluff and stuff from your conversations with God, and you’ll realize how easy it is to talk to Him. You’ll even have a better sense of His care and concern for you. Prayer is a requirement in our relationship with God, and we cannot live without it. But we’re not meant to waste our time praying within the confines of structure, status, and formality. Prayer is not about showing God that we are intellectually worthy of His audience. When we eliminate the religious jargon and speak the simplistic truth of what we want to say to Him, then the power of prayer is active, connective, and effective in the grace that God gives to us. Listen – if you find yourself dozing off to sleep mid-prayer, getting tongue-tied using words you can’t pronounce, you can’t spell, and you don’t even know the meaning of, or if you have to be administered oxygen because you’ve been going on and on and on – why not try putting the excess righteousness aside - and be transparent with your Father. Talk to God as His child.  You can rest assured that He understands you better than you understand yourself.
