Reset

Mark 6:30-31a (NLT) The apostles returned to Jesus from their ministry tour and told him all they had done and taught. Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.”

Working to get ahead is good – within reason. But if you work all the time just so you can have and do more things sooner than you would if you were to pace and balance your efforts - you’ll get what you work for - but it won’t be what could have if you were to ‘work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people’ (Colossians 3:23). Jesus understands the necessity of taking time off to minister self-care to your physical and spiritual needs. Rest – quiet rest – in a solitary place is sustenance that everyone needs in order to restore themselves to a balance of mind, body, and spirit. Even the work you do for Jesus will go lacking if you don’t take some time to rest. Do you know that rest is an – activity? Incorporate that in with a sensible and balanced work routine, and watch what will happen. The things you desire to get with your ‘overtime’ will eventually come to you -‘over time’. Steal away, and allow yourself time to reset.
