Take Up Your Cross Daily

Luke 9:23-24 (NLT) … “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.”

For every sacrifice you’ve ever made, there is an everlasting purpose for it. Sacrifices are not losses. They are investments into something far greater than we can see or understand. To make a selfless sacrifice, you must surrender completely to God, and take up your cross daily. You already know that some sacrifices you will make hurt deeply, like living with an estranged relationship with someone with your adult child; standing at the doorway of a dream, only to have that door shut right in front of you; giving up all that you’ve worked hard for so you can be there with a family member who needs your twenty-four hour care… “Take up your cross…daily.” Your sacrifice has meaning and purpose. You may not understand it, and that’s okay. You just lean in hard with trusting Jesus. Trust Him completely. You’ll be glad you did.
