The Matter At Hand
Romans 12:21 (NLT) Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.
It’s difficult to separate a negative matter from its source. We view a problem and a person as an all-in-one package. In such instances, the real matter at hand is how the nature of our character responds to the person while addressing the matter. The fruit of our spirit has the power to diffuse evil with stern love in necessary circumstances. Spiritual maturity demonstrates love through wisdom, boldness, compassion, patience, tolerance – and sometimes by even walking away from a situation. Are you in agreement with Jesus that goodness and love overcomes all forms of evil? Every time I think about the evil that was hurled at our Savior and how He responded to it all in love by dying on the cross to save us from ourselves – I know that He makes us more than able to be conquerors. The next time you must deal with a tactic of the enemy, remember the matter at hand is how you will respond to it by the spirit of Christ in you.
