Evangelism Requires Involvement

1 Corinthians 9:22-23 (NLT) When I am with those who are weak, I share in their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some. I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings.

Let me burst some lukewarm bubbles so we don’t run the risk of sending souls to hell because we hustle the Good News of Jesus. You see - when we are called to evangelize for Jesus - that does not mean we are to present ourselves above anyone, talk a memorized script to them, and then leave them with a prayer and an idea about hope. That’s an empty hustle. Evangelism requires involvement that is deep-seated in humility, care, and love. To evangelize is to embrace people where they are in life, connect with them, build up their spirit with hope in the Word of God, spend earnest time in fellowship, break bread together, and share what tangible resources we have with them. Jesus is the One Who turns the light on in their hearts. But our involvement with people helps prepare them to receive Him. This is the church interaction that makes a difference for the Kingdom of God. Sharing the Good News and sharing in it with people holds a blessing for the evangelists and the evangelized. Evangelism isn’t a hustle. It’s a lifeline to eternity that requires our involvement with one another.
