Great-Hearted Giving
1 Corinthians 16:1-2 (NIV) Now about the collection for the Lord’s people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do. On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.
How we give is a prime indicator of how much we trust in God, depend on God, and are grateful to God. Our Father gives us everything – everything! And while He commands His people to be a giving church, He is not a dictator. Our free will allows us to give back to God out of our genuine desire to do so! God wants us to be generous. He made us to be cheerful givers! There is not a banking system in this world that can beat all of God’s spiritual and physical blessings that we become a part of when we give to the Lord with joy in believing for what only He can do with our offerings. Giving is a part of our weekly worship. If your worship for God stops at your wallet and purse – your effectiveness in the body of Christ and for the Kingdom is in vain. Great-hearted giving comes from the citizens of God’s Kingdom. Are you a resident?
