Study the Scriptures

“Anybody who listens to a beautifully performed symphony for the first time gains something from it. The next time he hears it, he gains more; when he hears the symphony for the hundredth time, he is benefitted to the hundredth power… the spectator can’t get it all the first time; repeated viewings multiply the satisfaction.” – Edward Kennedy ‘Duke’ Ellington (1899-1974) American composer, pianist, and leader of a jazz band orchestra
Thank you, Mr. Ellington for sharing the quintessential evolution of how we glean all we can from a beautiful ensemble of music! The repetitive process works the same in helping us get more and more and more each time we study the Word of God. The gain for us is priceless and endless. The more we study on the scriptures, we benefit from the manifestation of God’s Word and its power within us. We adapt to the nuances and messages the scriptures provide to help us stand firm in our faith. Likened to a symphony, we can’t get all that the scriptures offer us in just one, two, or a few readings. The scriptures are God’s symphonic arrangement that we are meant to repeat our entire lifetime! Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Joshua 1:8 (NIV)
