Smile On Us, Father
Psalms 119:135 (NIV) Make your face shine on your servant and teach me your decrees.
God smiles upon us constantly. Yes, even when we do wrong. Though He frowns at our sin, He sees us - His precious children - apart from our sins, and we cause Him to smile on us. He loves us so. What we must understand is that the activities that go on in our day between wake and sleep don’t discern whether or not God is smiling on us. Jesus is the reason why God smiles on us whether we behave, or we mess up. God looks at us, and He sees His Son. When Jesus looks at us, He sees us through His Father’s love for us. How awesome is that? It’s totally awesome! So, does this mean we get to bypass the consequences of God’s discipline? Nice try, but – no. However, we can be confident that we will survive whatever the spanking may be and in turn be the better for it because our Father is smiling on us. Rejoice!
