Tempted Or Tested?

James 1:13-14 (NIV) When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone, but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.

The most hilarious species in all the planet earth has to be – humans!!! We have this way of coming up with versions of truth we find more palatable that the actual truth! We do this when we are tempted by something that we know good and darn well we have a weakness to. We give into it, and we flip it on God so we can live with ourselves. But on a serious note – we’ve got to be clear on something. God is not a tempter. He loves us too much and has way more better things in mind for us than to set us up to fail. If God does anything it is that He tests us to see where we are in our spiritual maturity and discipline. The next time you find yourself facing a crossroad to either giving in or standing firm, pause for a minute to consider what you know is best for you. If everything in your life is centered around your focus on God, your spiritual discernment will help you to make the choice between being tempted and asking God for His help -or - being tested and proving yourself true to doing God’s will. Amen.
