Surrender Your Will

Luke 9:23 (NIV) Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.

To be honest about some of our toughest experiences in life, we would have to confess that we had a lot to do with much of the difficulty we faced. Our approach to handling things just wasn’t in our best interest. Instead of letting God take the lead, we just helped ourselves to doing whatever we thought was necessary to get the outcome we desired. It was right then when we separated ourselves from working in oneness with God. We created for ourselves boulder problems out of pebble matters! We needed to harness our will. Imagine what would have happened if Jesus hadn’t surrendered His will to God when He prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will” (Matthew 26:39). Lord, have mercy! All of us would be condemned to eternal hell. Listen to me: Even on our worst days - you and I have never had to drink from a cup as bitter as the one Jesus did for our sake. Life is tough enough without us making it tougher for ourselves. Join me in surrendering our will to God. There is no one Who loves us more and wants only what’s best for us.
