Proverbs 16:9 (NLT) We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.

I had a few lightbulbs that needed to be replaced in my ceiling fans. God kept bringing those lightbulbs to my mind, and I, of course, kept dismissing them from my mind! (Isn’t that how we do sometimes…okay, a lot of times?) Anywho – I was chilling at home one particular day when those lightbulbs came back on my mind to the point of convicting me to go get them right then. So, I went to Lowe’s and bought them. No big deal, right? Wrong! God’s prompting wasn’t about the lightbulbs. It was about a tired, old man who had fallen asleep behind the wheel of his truck while he was waiting to merge into some traffic! I pulled up behind him, and I noticed that he missed three opportunities to go. So, I drove around and pulled up beside him. The truck was running, and his windows were all the way down. He was slightly slumped sideways, but he was snoring loudly. I was so glad to hear the snoring! I blew my horn twice, and called out until he woke up. After he got himself together and assured me that he was fine, he pulled forward, merged into the traffic, and went on his way. For the rest of that day, all I could think about was what might have happened if I had kept on ignoring God’s prompting and had not shown up to my assignment when I was supposed to. It just goes to show us that when God redirects our plans, we don’t ever want to dismiss or question Him. We want to respond with prompt obedience. Obedience saves lives.
