The Devil’s Foothold
Ephesians 4:26-27 (NLT) And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.

Whalers and deep-sea fishers use harpoons to kill and capture whales and large fish. Those harpoons have pointed heads that are either thrown or shot with force into the prey. There’s a rope on the other end of the harpoon that the whalers and fishers use to draw in their catch. But it’s the head of the harpoon that gets a hold on it. Well, the devil has many devices he uses to catch and kill relationships between people. Anger is a popular one. The devil likes to get a foothold on our spirit and cause the anger to fester within us where love should reside. When we hold on to anger it takes over us. We start walking hard, talking stiff, making threats and doing manipulative things towards others to satisfy our own purposes. Anger is an emotion that - if not managed properly – does more harm to the person who is angry than the person to whom the anger is projected. Anger is the opposite of love. It cannot reside within you where the Holy Spirit lives. Don’t let the devil put his nasty, scaly, bunion-toed foot on you!!! Ask the Lord to help you to forgive quickly, and don’t you dare go to bed until you let that anger go!
