Non-Retainable Spirit

James 1:23-24 (NLT) For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like.

Believers thrive on the Word of God. It is our guide and companion, our confidence and hope, and our armor against the attacks of the devil. We store the Word of God in our hearts and we align our lives with it so that we can stay walking in the Light of His Truth. But for someone with a non-retainable spirit – God’s Word disappears. A person can know what the scriptures say and mean just as good as he knows his name. But when it comes to application, somehow none of it applies to him. Do you know of anyone who acts this way? I’m so glad that God loves us too much to let us stay in such a blind condition. In order to walk in His likeness, we have to accept and obey all of Who He is. Let’s help each other to retain all there is to know about our God. We can recognize who we truly are when we give ourselves to Him completely.
