God Will Let You Know
Matthew 1:19a; 20 (NLT) Joseph [Mary’s fiancé], was a good man…As he [Joseph] considered this, and angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David.” The angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit.”

Joseph was a good man with a good heart. His fiancé was pregnant with a child that was not his. What was he to do about his original plans to marry Mary? Did God have a place for him in all of this? Yes – God had a place for Joseph – and Joseph was already there. Unselfishly, Joseph didn’t make any hasty decisions in order to protect himself. Of all he did have to think about, his first concern was for Mary’s safety and well-being. And by way of a dream, God let Joseph know to move forward with his original plan to marry Mary. God’s blessings were on the marriage. Joseph gives us an example of how we are to approach the interruptions that occur in our lives. They come unexpectedly, and we don’t have all the specifics to their purpose. But when we depend on God, He lets us know what we are to do next. It’s a thought perspective that comes from having goodness in our hearts.
