O Come, O Come, Emmanuel
Matthew 1:23 (NLT) “Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’”
Christmas carols harmonized to the poetic history of the birth of Jesus and what His birth means for us lift up the joy and promises of God within our souls. The melodies and their messages let us reminisce on the truth of our Savior’s coming, and they remind us that because He came, God is with us. Israel hoped and waited for a long time for the expected Savior to come and set them free. Oh! When the Good News arrived, how the people of God rejoiced! No longer did they have to wait for God from afar because Immanuel had finally come, and for that reason – now centuries later – Almighty God is with us today! Halleluiah!
