A ‘Good’ Dose of Pain
Luke 15:18 (NIV) “…I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both Heaven and you,…”
Pain is that invisible alarm that sounds off when we are in some form of distress. Either something is wrong, we’ve been wronged, or we’ve done something wrong to provoke the pain. We are a society of people who either ignore our pain or cover it up with pills, alcohol, sex, etc. Of course, this eventually catches up to us and gives us greater trouble than it would have if we had paid attention and properly addressed it from the very beginning. How about that pain our souls suffer when we lose someone special in our lives? Or how about the pain we suffer when we live life without God? There is nothing man can make to soothe such afflictions. However, be not dismayed. There is a Healing Balm for our hurting soul. He is God, and He knows that sometimes it takes a good dose of pain to remind us that we belong to Him, and He expects us to act and to live like we know Him. Amen.
