On Bended Knees
1 Timothy 4:45 (NIV) For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

“Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer. And let faith be the bridge you build to overcome evil and welcome good.” Maya Angelou (1928-2014)

I can’t tell you the numerous times that I – as a child – used to get into my bed at night only to have Mama come to the doorway and ask, “Have you said your prayers?” If I answered ‘no’ she’d make me get out of bed and kneel to pray. And if I answered ‘yes’, she’d say, “Good – now get up and do it again.” Mama knew me well. I’m so glad she was persistent about my kneeling to pray, because I grew up to appreciate how great and important God is in my life. In my adult life – no matter what time of day it is, where I may be, or what I am doing – I pause and pray a prayer of gratitude, and I always feel like a small child on bended knees praying before my Father. I wouldn’t have it any other way. The more I bow down, the more I rise up in faith and with thanksgiving. God is Mighty Good.
