Rest In It
Psalm 127:2 (NLT) It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to His loved ones.
Sleep is an indispensable and natural mechanism that provides our bodies with the benefits of repair and healing, rest, and restoration. These benefits umbrella more specific advantages for the physical components of our overall health. Sleep also provides benefits for our spiritual health. Keep in mind that our bodies are only as weak or as strong as the spirit. When we get caught up in our coming and going, planning and doing – it’s easy to forget that we’re spiritual beings made of clay. When we pause to rest – it’s not always a physical tiredness that weighs us down. Sometimes our burden is a spiritual tiredness. We must pace ourselves and set healthy limits to what we do and how much we try to get done. God wants us to condition both our spiritual and physical life so that we can be ready and able to not only live and enjoy an abundant life, but also serve His Kingdom purposes in the earth. And of all the things we do to prepare ourselves for this, sleep has its place. Now rest on it.
