Keep What You Hear
Proverbs 13:3 (NLT) Those who control their tongue will have a long life: opening your mouth can ruin everything.
Gossips and know-it-alls don’t get any rest, nor do they taste the sweetness of life because their tongues are too preoccupied with telling everything they hear or what they think they know. The pathetic thing about this is that the contents of their conversations don’t have a single thing to do with them! Augh! What a waste of precious time! What a dangerous load of arsenal the tongue can be! Everything that you hear doesn’t warrant being repeated – particularly gossip or hearsay. Allow the Holy Spirit to grab your attention when you begin to indulge in speaking or listening to gossip. Stop and think about how it would feel to be the victim of your own slander. Believe it or not, it happens all the time! May you desire to hold your tongue and have a long life instead of telling what you don’t really know.
