Prayer
Colossians 4:2 (NLT) Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.

There was an occasion when a few people had gathered to have intercessory prayer for people. When they began petitioning the Lord, their prayers were consumed with the subject ‘I’. There were more personal petitions than there were petitions on behalf of others in need of prayer. When the group ended their session, another group came along and started to pray for people. Spiritual power came forth as they prayed for people of all walks of life. They prayed for communities, governments, health and healing, church leaders, and the body of Jesus Christ! Their prayers proclaimed the authority of God over everyone and everything they petitioned to Him. That is the very same effective and life changing power every one of us have the ability to tap into when our prayers are not self-preoccupied. When God listens to the prayers we pray for others, He also hears the prayers we’re in need of praying for ourselves. With sharp minds and hearts filled with gratitude, prayer is our weapon for warfare that showers blessings upon those who are prayed for and those who pray for people other than themselves.
