Your Credit Is No Good
Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT) God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for
this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us
can boast about it.

There is a bottomless list of things you do that are good works for the Kingdom, but they lack value if
you do them for the wrong reasons. Wrong reasons would be to think you are paying God back for
letting Jesus die for our sin debt, or you are earning God’s guarantee that He will accept you into
Heaven when you die. That would mean what you do is in effort to have good credit with God. Well,
let me bust your bubble! Your credit is no good, because you can’t take credit for something God did
solely by His Own decision. Jesus has already paid for everything, and there are no deals for getting
into Heaven. However, what you can do is accept Jesus as your Savior, accept God’s gift of grace, and
give - not just show - but give God your love and devotion in return by spending time in His Presence,
reading the Bible, and praying. Just as much and more good works gets done for the Kingdom when
we give our undivided love and attention to God in these ways.
