Stop Complaining
James 5:9 (NLT) Don’t grumble about each other, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. For look – the Judge is standing at the door!

Let me tell you about Harriett. She is a servant at her church. She fell ill with a high fever one day, and was placed in the hospital. While battling her fever, Harriett dreamed she was walking in a garden with the Lord. The Lord asked her to share with Him anything that was troubling her. Of all the things she could think of, Harriett lit into complaining about a fellow servant whom she felt was excessive with kindness. “She’s too kind to be real!” Harriett told the Lord.  After a pause, the Lord gently replied, “I see…your heart. I will fix the matter for you.” When her fever broke, Harriett opened her eyes and looked in disbelief. She thought she was still dreaming until the person whom she complained to the Lord about said to her, “Praise God! Praise God! He put you on my mind! I’m going to be here for you until you make a full recovery!
The moral of this little story is simply this: God sees our hearts, and He knows the real reason behind our complaints. Most times it is more about what we’re jealous of and perhaps may be needing. Such was the case for Harriett. She needed to learn how to be joyful and kind for herself. God fixed the matter and sent to her just ‘who’ he needed – in the person whom she complained about.                        So I ask you… who have you been complaining about lately, and what is your real reason for complaining? You’d better be careful. The Judge of your heart is standing at the door!
