High Regard
Titus 2:7-8 (ESV) Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent ma be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.

Aretha Franklin (1942 - 2018) “We all require and want respect; man or woman, black or white. It is our basic human right.”

There was a time more so than now when a family name was held in high regard. The character model that had been established was respected and carried on down through the generations. The family name meant something. It commanded respect from the familiars and the unfamiliars alike. Ever so often a prodigal child would rise up in the lineage, but because of respect for that family name – the community helped the prodigal get in check with him/herself and the family. Nowadays, it takes more than just a name to get respect. It takes character that models the attributes of our Savior. Even then, the world will not always give us the respect we deserve. They didn’t do it for Jesus… But this one thing is for sure - we hold the name of Jesus Christ in high regard; and because we do, our value, our ability…the quality of our character in Christ is respectfully confirmed for His Kingdom!
