Changing Seasons
Psalm 104:19 (NLT) You made the moon to mark the seasons, and the sun knows when to set.
I always enjoy watching each of the changing seasons play out their fullness. However, I get a little melancholy during the between times of transition. I suppose I’m not too keen on saying ‘goodbye’ to the comfort of the familiar. I want the green grass of spring to stay and the summer fruits to last forever! I want the trees to remain lush with leaves and the warm and sunshine to go on and on. But then, it’s just like that in our lives at one point or another. You know what I mean. We want to stay in the season of our youth – vibrant and energetic. But our seasonal cues come from the plans of our Father, and His wisdom surpasses what we think we want for ourselves. It is in the autumn of our life that we are more conscious of our human fragility and of God’s hand upon us. He moves us from our between times and into the newness of our changing seasons. When we don’t fight the inevitable, God brings to our delight the most wonderful experiences we can know only by releasing our desire to hold onto our former days. Because of Whom we belong to, we can look forward to the changing seasons in our lives. Each day in Christ just gets sweeter and sweeter along the way!
