The Altar Call
Matthew 16:24-25 (NLT) Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it…”
When the doors of the church are open and the invitation is extended for you and for me to come forward to make our spiritual commitment to Jesus Christ known publicly, we are saying to our Savior and to this world that we have chosen Him over ourselves - knowing life will present its share of trials and tribulations. Yet, our choice is to walk in the Light of His Authority regardless and offer our service and love to everyone – just as He did for us, and just as He commands us to do. Accepting the invitation to follow Jesus all the way is our way of saying to our Savior that ‘we die to ourselves to have Him live in us and we in Him. This is the altar call. Will you go with Jesus all the way?
