Solid Rock
Psalm 61:2b-3(ESV) Lead me to the rock that is higher than I, for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy.

A believer’s demeanor toward the events that are occurring in the world can be misunderstood by people who do not have a deeply rooted stance in the Word of God. It may seem like all the painful news doesn’t have an impact on the believer’s mental and emotional disposition. They may even appear not to care about what’s going on. Why is that? It is because believers believe and trust in God. He is the Solid Rock they stand on, and they will not be knocked down by anything outside of His peace and protection. Trust me when I say that believers have feelings, and they care very much about all that is taking place in the world. However, they do not let what they feel take over them. Standing firmly on the Solid Rock, they know that the storms are ugly and rough, but they also know that the storms will eventually pass and they will be alright. If we don’t get ourselves rooted in the Rock, we become painful people – always complaining, hurting, bemoaning – because we take on the persona of our feelings. But God – He fills the believer’s heart with His peace which surpasses all understanding. Sounds like a rock-solid way to rid ourselves of so much pain, wouldn’t you agree?
