A Quieter People
Proverbs 15:2 (NLT) The tongue of the wise makes knowledge appealing, but the mouth of a fool belches out foolishness.
The more we talk, the less we are listening. If we aren’t listening, then we can’t be paying attention. If we were a quieter people, we could glean things from each other that add to our life relationships and our service for the Kingdom. But then – that’s exactly what the ruler in the earth already knows! That’s why he takes pleasure in our falling for being inundated with the ways and means of talking all the time. Is it all good talk? Is it necessary talk? How much of our talking is about Jesus and the Kingdom of Heaven? Some of the most appealing and productive conversations occur in the form of meditation and prayer…but we’ve got to become a quieter people in order to grasp that divine knowledge. There’s a quote by an unknown author that states: “Make time for the quiet moments as God whispers and the world is loud.” A quieter people would take heed…and listen.
