Between Your Now and Your When
Jeremiah 31:16/NLT) But now this is what the Lord says: “Do not weep any longer, for I will reward you,” says the Lord. “Your children will come back to you from the distant land of the enemy. There is hope for your future,” says the Lord. “Your children will come again to their own land.”

Aside from losing a child by death, I cannot think of anything more hurtful to parents than to have a child make choices that demonstrate the complete opposite of all they were taught to help them have a wholesome and blessed life. Further yet, to have a child estrange himself from his parents, making no contact and never being seen just as if he never existed must be – to the parents – similar to losing the child by a form of  death. No matter how old a child becomes, in his parents’ hearts, he is forever the baby they raised the best they knew how, and they only desire the best for his life. Thankfully, God knows all the ins and outs of the situation, and He’s got a solid handle on it. That’s why he reassures parents that a reward is instore for them, and their child will return back to the training that was instilled in them. That means the child will also return to his trainers – his parents. Knowing this truth, what are parents to do between now and when their child returns? They are to honor God by continuing to live and thrive in the events of their lives, because they have His confirmation of what the future holds. In that way, when the time does arrive for the child to return to his own land, there will be evidence for him to see that God continued to be all that He ever was in his parents lives – just as his parents told him God would be if he’d make the choice to let God lead his life. God is faithful. Just watch what He will do between your now…and your when.
