Waiting In Silence
(Habakkuk 2:20/NIV) The Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him.
We do ourselves a great service when we seek God in prayer to provide an answer to our petitions. We do ourselves an even greater service when we wait for God to respond. While we wait in faith that He will respond, it does not mean that we are to be doing any particular thing to make God deliver a response sooner than He intends to. Nor does it mean we’re supposed to be talking to God constantly while we wait. Waiting – waiting in silence – is a vital part of prayer. In the silence we demonstrate a patient and trusting attitude. We allow space for our spirit to listen so we can hear what God has to say to us. Waiting in silence is a marvelous and miraculous part of prayer. It is there in the silence that our spirit can perceive the gentle whisper of God’s voice. ~Selah~
