Spiritual Amnesia
(1 Chronicles 16:34/NIV) Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.
My heart goes out to people who suffer from diseases that rob them of their memory. There are millions of people in number who are affected by this medical condition. In a similar instance, I wage there are just as many of us who are dealing with a form of spiritual forgetfulness, and we don’t realize how serious it is. Its prominent symptom is this - when we are facing a trial or a storm in our life, or when we’ve overcome a circumstance , or when we have the opportunity to help someone else get through a tough time but we don’t – we too easily forget what God has done for us in the past and is doing for us in our present. Amnesia is what I call it. Is it selective, selfish, or perhaps a matter of taking God for granted? It could be any of those things…or none at all. Whatever it is – we need to stop it while we have not only the mental, but also the spiritual capability to do it! It is a disgrace to forget about the goodness of God when His grace and mercy are the only reason we can wake up each day in our right mind and be active and effective servants in the building of His Kingdom. Never be guilty of having spiritual amnesia when it comes to keeping the goodness of the Lord in your life at the forefront of your heart, mind and soul. We serve a God Who will never forget a single one of us. Never!
