Your Blessings Are Colossal!
(Deuteronomy 7:9/NLT) Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.
I often wonder if people don’t feel the need to talk with God or spend some time with Him every day because they don’t have anything to share with Him in the moment. By ‘in the moment’ I mean, they’re currently satisfied, or what they could talk to Him about isn’t a pressing issue right now. Is that how we get when our blessings are flowing? We’d rather give God a break so we can go and do what we want to do until we need Him to provide us another blessing? Well, God is not a momentary God, nor are His blessings temporary. So many of the blessings we experience in and throughout our life are the fruit of prayers that were prayed on our behalf from generations before us. These ‘stored up’ blessings that fall fresh upon us come from prayers that were harvested from daily visits with God – sometimes several times throughout the day and all night long, day in and day out – by relatives and people who asked God to make things better for us in the future. And here we are, living out colossal blessings. Which leads me to wonder – if you and I aren’t spending time talking, praying, and listening to God everyday – will future children and adults have any colossal blessings to reap? For every action, there is a reaction. Let’s handle our business, saints.
