How Long ‘Should’ You Expect To Live?
(Psalms 23:4 NIV) Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

‘How long do you expect to live’ is a profound question. It brings your attention to how much thought you give to the brevity of life. Being asked the question effectively makes you realize how completely unknowing and powerless you are in providing an answer. A wise response would be, ’I expect to live until the Lord calls me home’. However, you can’t specifically predict when that may be. All bets are off when it comes to the length of your life. We serve a God who can breathe life back into a cold corpse, and He can wisp life away from a body in its prime of health. With that said, how long ‘should’ you expect to live? You should expect to live as long as God is the Keeper of your life. In this way, you can look forward to life eternally. After all, one day we will all be absent from the body in this life, but that means we’ll be present with the Lord in Heaven forevermore.
Lord, thank you for being the Keeper of my soul. I can live my life serving You with the blessed assurance of knowing that all that concerns me is in your care. I love You. Amen.
