Devotion

I grew up in the South with guns everywhere, and we never shot anyone. This [shooting] is about people who aren’t taught the value of life.”
Samuel L. Jackson (African American actor and producer) 1948 – present

Put Down the Guns
(Ecclesiastes 9:18 NIV) Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good.

The hatred and hostility that drives individuals to carry out gun violence on fellow human beings are unbearable. This daily carnage of lives is senseless…Godless. For every life taken by the spray of bullets, generations of interactions and connections are eradicated from multiple spheres of lives that God purposed to intercept with each another. But now those lives are gone, and those spheres have collapsed as if they never existed. Priceless is the value of each human soul that is lost to gun violence. Priceless is the value of the souls of family members and community members who are tossed into the raging tsunami of physical, mental, and emotional ramifications suffered in grief. Until the peoples of the courts and the peoples of the land respect the Commandments of God, it will be up to the saints of God to keep our intercessory prayer lines fervent so that the angels from Heaven will be dispersed at God’s command to protect innocent lives from falling victim to the lifeless souls who pull the triggers on guns.

Father, please help us find the way to end all of this gun violence. Even though it hurts us deeply, help us to forgive our enemies, ‘for they know not what they do’ (Luke 23:34b).
