Self-Indulgence
(Proverbs 25:27 NIV) It is not good to eat much honey; Nor is it glorious to seek one’s own glory.

Much of what we own, we rarely think about or use. It’s just sitting wherever it is and occupying space. Unless we have to dust it off or move it out of the way to make space for yet something else, it’s just – there. Sometimes we buy things for ourselves that we’ve forgotten we already have at the house. Yeah, sometimes our discernment of wants and needs gets scrambled. Sometimes it’s a matter of objectivity and discipline. In this world of self-indulgence, there is more than enough of everything to go around. When we open our hands and hearts to people who are in need and people whose lives we can bless with unexpected gifts, we’ll see less accumulation of ‘stuff’ and more spreading of good will and prosperity. Imagine how much more God will provide for us to share with the world when we start sharing much of what we already have. Prosperity is accessible to everyone. There is no loss when we care enough about someone else besides ourselves – and share.
